Refunds and Reprints
Last updated: November 4, 2026
The short version. Every book is written and drawn for one person, so we don't give refunds once you've paid. Instead, you see the first pages free before you pay, and you read the whole finished book and approve it before it's printed or final, with two rounds of changes. If a printed book has a printing fault, arrives damaged or doesn't arrive, we print and send a new one for free.
Before you pay
You read the opening of the book and see the cover before you pay anything, so you know what you're getting.
No refunds on personalized books
We start writing and painting your book the moment you pay, and it can't be sold to anyone else. That's why we don't give refunds, including if you change your mind. The one exception: if we can't make your book at all, we refund you in full.
You approve the book before it's final
- When your book is finished, a person on our team reads it, and then you read the whole book on your book's page.
- If something isn't right, you can ask for changes, page by page: words, names, details, and up to 3 pictures redrawn each round. You get two rounds of changes.
- When you approve it, the book is final. The digital book is yours to download and the hardcover goes to print. After that we can't change the words or pictures.
Printed books
We print and ship a new copy for free if your hardcover:
- doesn't match the version you approved,
- has a printing or binding fault,
- arrives damaged, or
- doesn't arrive: tracking shows no progress for 10 business days after the delivery estimate.
Tell us within 30 days of delivery, with your order number and a photo of the problem. You don't need to send the book back. If you gave us a wrong address and the book comes back to us, we can send it again, but you pay the new shipping.
How to ask
Email team@butterpages.com with your order number (it starts with BP-). A person answers, usually within one business day. Refunds go back to the card you paid with, and usually show up within 5 to 10 business days.
